Muslim Students Association (MSA)

Here is how the Muslim Student Association exemplifies the Jesuit ideals according to their nomination:

The Muslim Students Association has been at the forefront of a great deal of programming this year aimed towards issues of peace, justice and dialogue. This organization has organized several programs like Islam Awareness Week, the Palestinian/Israeli Dialogue, and Fundraisers for South Asian Earthquake relief. This group truly embodies the real meaning of "Islam," which is peace.

During the holy month of Ramadan, MSA had open "Iftars", or meals, where all members of the Loyola community were welcome. MSA would end their day of fasting with an "Iftar" and used this opportunity to share their faith with other members of the Loyola community. Some of the Iftars included a speaker who was a scholar of Islam. MSA has worked with University Ministry and other student organizations on campus on planning Interfaith prayer services and dialogue sessions for our larger community. MSA embodies the ideals of commitment to faith, social justice, peace building and cooperative dialogue.
