Atheni Asihel

Atheni Asihel, Senior
Here is how Atheni exemplifies the Jesuit ideals according to her nomination:
Atheni has served in Unified Student Government for 4 years: 2 years as a Senator and 2 years as an Executive Board member. She was a central figure in organizing opposition to utilize student funding to bring Ann Coulter to campus, serving as a primary spokesperson on the issue. Most recently, she was elected President of the Unified Student Government. Her hard work, excellent people skills, and persistence have helped transform USG into a much more dynamic and proactive organization. She has also worked effectively to quell in-fighting that has so often plagued USG. I have advised student government for five years and have never worked with a more effective student body president. Atheni is passionate about social justice and passionate about standing up for what she believes in. This passion was the primary impetus behind helping organize the anti-Ann Coulter forces. And, she has worked tirelessly to restructure USG - because she strongly believes it will be more effective for the student body. Atheni is most deserving of this award.
