Campus Life Union Board (C.L.U.B.)
Here is how Campus Life Union Board (C.L.U.B.) exemplifies the Jesuit ideals according to their nomination:
The student members of CLUB take programming for the community very seriously. All the events they plan are created with the student body in mind but some things in particular stand out. Spirit Week is an area where CLUB members strive to build campus community. This year the Spirit Week committee's goal was to make sure everyone on campus knew it was Spirit Week. During that week you could walk in to Damen Hall and be surrounded by the school colors or just merely walk in to class and see your fellow classmates wearing a "I heart LUC" t-shirt. CLUB prides itself in having an event students can always count on, such as the bi-weekly films shown in Finnegan auditorium. The student members seek to serve others in the events they plan for the students. They truly understand what it means to be a "person for others." The amount of work they do for each event supports this idea. The CLUB members find satisfaction in creating and implementing many events throughout the year, but they often sacrifice their personal enjoyment so that the event will be enjoyed by those attending. While it may not be the first thing that comes to mind, CLUB members and the events they plan help to develop the whole person. Giving students opportunities to relax, be entertained, and pursue their interests helps individuals find balance in light of their hectic academic pursuits. CLUB is most deserving of this award.
