Loyola Apartment Association

Here is how Loyola Apartment Association exemplifies the Jesuit ideals according to their nomination:

The Loyola Apartment Association (LAA) has been the most effective hall council at Loyola this year. With a budget of just over $15,000, LAA has been able to put on almost 20 programs, including two ski trips, a whitewater rafting trip, a trip to a theme park, going to a Bulls game, contributing to Black History Month, attending several theatre and film showings, playing laser tag, a trip to a driving range, and several other programs, charging students only $5 per program. LAA has worked hard to collaborate with the Resident Manager staff and the Department of Residence Life to assist them in putting on new programs, developing students culturally and socially, and working to get upper-class on campus residents engaged in activities. We have sent representatives to national, regional, and state level conferences, and consistently contribute to the discussions at Residence Hall Association meetings. While other on-campus organizations have struggled, LAA has managed to succeed based on the dedication of its members, the excellent programming job by the Residence Life staff, and strong guidance from its advisors. It has steadily improved over the last three years and is now an organization that allows students to become active in their residence hall community.  Loyola Apartment Association is most deserving of this award.
