Unified Student Government (U.S.G.)
Here is how Unified Student Government (U.S.G.) exemplifies the Jesuit ideals according to their nomination:
A hard working and dedicated Cabinet have reshaped the student government and have changed the impact it has on Loyola Campus; along with a very energetic and diverse senate who has legislated and lobbied for the interest of the student body. This year USG has allocated funds to sponsor dozens of the greatest events on campus, have been in continuous contact with administration and faculty voicing student concerns, bringing the level of accountability to an unprecedented high—spear heading such initiatives such as the reformed Loyola Organization Board, the new Student Activities Podcast, Student Organization Emails, better Campus Shuttle Service, better internet service, and much more. By striving for fair and democratic representation of the student body, while also acting in the interest of Jesuit social values, USG has spearheaded initiatives to get sweatshop free merchandise in the Loyola book store, to encourage the university to take on corporate responsibility, and also established a program that donates left over food to local charity organizations.
