Student Performance Opportunities
Annual Dance Concert
Dance majors and minors will engage in challenging rehearsal and performances of both classical and contemporary choreography for the annual Department of Fine and Performing Arts’ Annual Dance Concert. Auditions will determine casting and concert repertory will focus on masterpieces of both classical ballet and modern dance.
The annual concert takes place at the end of the Fall semester.
Fall 2015 was the inaugural year of the Dance Senior Showcase. The showcase is comprised of dance works by internationally acclaimed choreographers and will culminate in a full ensemble work.
The annual showcase takes place in the Fall semester.
Dance students from all classes showcase their semester’s work in an informal dance performance. Featuring a wide variety of styles at all levels, the performance offers students the opportunity to showcase the progress they have made in their respective courses. This end-of-semester performance celebrates the hard work at each level of our Dance program.
This showcase takes place once each semester.
Dance students from the composition class perform in original dance numbers created and choreographed by their peers.
This showcase takes place in the Spring semester.
Loyola Dance majors participate in a host of co-curricular activities that strengthen artistic practices and serve our commitment to social justice. This includes participation in The American College Dance Association conference, Loyola’s own IN/Motion: Chicago’s Dance Film Festival, interdisciplinary collaborations, research presentations, and international immersion activities, among others.
