Informances

Once in the fall and once in the spring, all students enrolled in studio technique classes will have the opportunity to perform in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts’ Dance Informance – an informal showcase in which students demonstrate their proficiency in ballet, pointe, modern, and jazz. Held at the Kathleen Mullady Theatre.

Annual Mainstage Production

Dance majors and minors will engage in challenging rehearsal and performances of both classical and contemporary choreography for the Department of Fine and Performing Arts’ Mainstage Production. Auditions will determine casting and concert repertory will focus on masterpieces of both classical ballet and modern dance.  Original work set by professional choreographers will also be featured. Held at the Kathleen Mullady Theatre.

Composition Showcase

Each fall, twelve dance major or minor students will present original works for the annual Composition Showcase. These works will focus on choreographic tools and strategies and will be formally presented at the Katherine Mullady Theatre.

Madonna della Strada Chapel Performances

Dance majors and minors will have the opportunity to perform at Loyola University’s newly renovated Madonna della Strada Chapel in programs that embody the spirit of our Ignatian heritage, combining music and dance to a beautiful effect.

Student Dance Organizations

All Loyola students have the opportunity to actively engage with the dance community by participating in extra-curricular dance groups which often provide additional performance oppertunities on and off campus. These include cultural dance groups, the L2 Tap Club, Scorch Dance, and the LUC Dancers among many others. Please see http://luc.orgsync.com/Search for a list of student run dance organizations.
