Dance

Dance at Loyola University is distinguished within the Chicago dance community and on a national
level through its commitment to rigorous study of classical dance techniques. Training in ballet and
classical modern dance techniques, as well as performing demanding repertory, allows students to
develop their physical and artistic skills at a conservatory level while engaging in benefits of a Jesuit
liberal arts education. Through courses in history, pedagogy, choreography and more, students develop
a comprehensive vocabulary for evaluating, teaching, creating and performing dance. Additionally, we
offer precise and formalized jazz dance technique courses and tap to support a minor in musical theatre.

Loyola benefits from its Chicago location, and students are able to attend world-class dance
performances throughout the city. Our faculty consists of highly accomplished professionals
who train dancers with precision, knowledge and goals of mentoring young artists to fulfill
their potential to the highest level.

In addition to our dance minor, the Dance Program at Loyola proudly services hundreds of students
who are looking for initial exposure to the art form or to continue their previous studies of dance.
We offer interdisciplinary world dance classes to allow students to experience the vitality, music
and movement vocabulary of diverse human cultures.

Come celebrate Dance at Loyola!
