About

Mr. Aaron Todd Douglas is a founding member of Congo Square Theatre Company,as well as a freelance actor, director and part time faculty member at Loyola University Chicago. Originally from Cincinnati, OH, he earned his MFA at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and BS from Eastern Michigan University.

Recent projects include acting in the world premiere of Perfect Medacity (Steppenwolf Theatre), and directing Checkmates (ETA), The Talented Tenth (Black Theatre Alliance Award- Best Production), and 4Play(Theatre Building). Additional acting credits include Joe Turner's Come and Gone (Goodman/Congo Square). He originated the role of Flip in the world premiere Stickfly (Congo Square) by Lydia Diamond. He also performed in various theaters and numerous productions: Wheatley (Victory Gardens); Julius Caesar(Chicago Shakespeare); Fortunes of the Moor (ETA); Blue Orange (Actor’s Express Atlanta);Wishes...(Steppenwolf); The Piano Lesson (Congo Square); Journal of Ordinary Thought (Chicago Theater Company); Wait Until Dark (Court Theatre); The State of Mississippi v. Emmet Til (Pegasus Players); Seven Guitars (Congo Square); and Before It Hits HomeSpunkAli (Inaugural Production).

Recent directing credits include 12 Angry Men (Raven Theatre), The Brother Sister Plays (assistant director Steppenwolf Theatre),The African Company Presents Richard III by Carlyle Brown (Congo Square), Invisible Man Prologue by Brian Tucker (Congo Square/ Art Institute Chicago), The Acotr's Rap by J. Kyle Manzay (Hip Hop Theatre Festival/ Congo Square), Eve Ensler’s Necessary Targets and A Son at the Front (Loyola University Platform Reading Series), Pill Hill at ETA Square (Black Theatre Alliance Award-Best Director, Best Production ETA Creative Arts) and The Hip-Hop Project: Insight into a Generation (Professional guest director University of Illinois).
