Ms. Katie Klemme has worked as a stage manager, director, and producer in the Chicagoland area over the past thirteen years. Recent directing credits include: multiple events for Serendipity Theatre Collective's 2nd Story (hybrid performances combining storytelling and live music) at venues around Chicago; Laura Lynn MacDonald's The Representative for American Theater Company's Big Shoulders Festival; fellow alum Philip Dawkins' play Saugaro for Estrogen Fest and the 16th Street Theatre; The Visit for Loyola University Chicago; finalist readings for the 17-22nd Annual Chicago Young Playwrights Center Chicago; and work at Lakeview & Senn High Schools through teaching artist residencies.
Producing credits include 3 seasons as Managing Director for Pegasus Players, where she produced such shows as August Wilson's Two Trains Running and Jitney, Sondheim's The Frogs (in a swimming pool), and Jonathan Larson's Tick, Tick, Boom!, as well as a month-long tour to India in coordination with the US Department of State. Additionally, she assisted in the management of international exchange programs between Egypt, Jordan, the UK and students in the Chicago Public Schools through the theatre's Global Voices program.
In her 4 seasons as Managing Director of the Organic Theater Company she has produced: the world premiere and 2001 Kennedy Center Award for New American Plays winner, The Last Seder; the world premiere of Dhana Marie Branton's Five Rooms of Furniture and Julie Brudlos' A Kind Asylum; and Midwest premieres of Richard Nelson's Goodnight Children Everywhere and David Hare's Amy's View. She co-created a Theatre for Young Audiences program with Pickwick Theatre to produce productions of The Little Prince and Romeo and Juliet, among others.
As production stage manager, her most recent work includes Frozen, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, Rabbit Hole, The Melville Boys, A Coupla White Chicks Sitting Around Talking at Buffalo Theatre Ensemble, Speed-the-Plow, Oleanna, Distracted, Yeast Nation (The Triumph of Life), Hedwig and The Angry Inch, The People's Temple, True West and Topdog/Underdog (in rotating repertory) at American Theater Company, Spin at Theater Wit, 365 Plays/365 Days for Writers Theatre, as well as many past seasons with Organic Theater Company and Pegasus Players as resident Production Stage Manager.
She is a proud member of Actors Equity Association, the union for professional actors and stage managers.
