Mr. David Grant is a native Californian who moved to Chicago in 1998 to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Columbia College. He moved back to California in 2001 and earned his masters in Music Composition in 2003 where he studied composition with Ron Caltabiano and Josh Levine. He has returned to Chicago to pursue his doctorate in music composition at Northwestern University where he has studied with Jay Alan Yim and Augusta Read Thomas. '

 

Mr. Grant has had numerous performances of his music including, Before for solo violin performed by Graeme Jennings in September 2006, his orchestral works Anticipation (Reflection) and Ephemera performed by the Northwestern University Chamber Orchestra in March 2005 and March 2006, a performance of his Piano Trio at the Buffalo contemporary music festival in June 2005, Glimpses for clarinet, violin and cello, performed by the New York New Music Ensemble in 2002, and Aphorisms performed by the San Francisco Contemporary Chamber Players in 2002.

 

Mr. Grant currently teaches music theory at Columbia College and music history at Loyola University Chicago.
