The Orchestra is committed to the exploration and performance of major orchestral literature from the seventeenth century to the present. The orchestra typically performs four concerts a year, collaborates with the University Chorus and has worked with an array of student, faculty and guest soloists including Robert Hanford from the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra. Sectional coaches provide professional guidance and assistance. MUSC 105 is a one-credit course which counts toward the Artistic Knowledge and Experience requirement of the Core Curriculum.

Membership is open to all students regardless of major. Chair placement auditions are held during the first week of each semester. Audition information will be sent to registered students via their LUC email account in early August. Students should plan to prepare two contrasting own choices selections. Sight reading, scales and transposition may be requested as appropriate.

Membership in Orchestra is open to all students with performance experience. Auditions are held during the first week of each semester to determine enrollment and chair placement. Audition information, as well as online audition sign-up, is available here.
