Frederick Lowe, conductor
flowe@luc.edu
Wind Ensemble is comprised of 75 members, and provides an opportunity for students from a variety of majors and playing levels to perform in a college band. Performing two concerts per semester, Wind Ensemble performs selections featuring: traditional transcriptions & marches (Wagner & Berlioz); concert band classics (Holst & Grainger); contemporary works for winds (Ticheli & Colgrass); and works for chamber ensembles consisting of woodwinds, brass, and percussion (Gounod, Gabrieli, & Cowell). Conducted by Frederick Lowe, Wind Ensemble is a one-credit course which counts toward the Artistic Knowledge and Experience requirement of the Core Curriculum.
Membership in Wind Ensemble is open to all students who have played in high school band. Auditions are held the first week of each semester, and determine chair placement only; they do not affect enrollment. Audition information will be sent to registered students via their LUC email account in early August.
