Meal Plan Operation
Traditional Meal Plans
Traditional Meal Plans operate on a weekly basis and are "reset" every Monday morning. Traditional Meal Plans ensure that students received an adequate number of meals each week during the current academic semester. Each time a student uses their Student ID card to purchase a meal in a dining facility, one meal is deducted from the total number of meals available during the entire one-week period. Students can only receive up to, but not more than, their weekly pre-assigned number of meals that they selected on their Residence Life Housing Agreement.
Declining Balance Meal Plans, FLEX Dollars, and Rambler Bucks
Unlike Traditional Meal Plans, the Declining Balance Meal Plans, FLEX Dollars, and Rambler Bucks accounts do not have a set number of meals each week. Each time a student makes a purchase using Declining Balance, FLEX Dollars, or Rambler Bucks, the value of the purchase is subtracted from the balance of the account until the account no longer has a positive value. Once a student has used their entire balance in these accounts, no further purchases can be made until funds have been deposited into the account.
Notice: The use of Declining Balance, FLEX Dollars, and/or Rambler Bucks as a substitute for Traditional Meal Plans is not recommended. First year and Second year students are required to have Traditional Meal Plans as part of their Residence Life Housing Agreement.
