Advisory Board
Purpose
Under the leadership of the Department of Student Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, the Diversity Advisory Board serves primarily as a body of representatives that address issues surrounding diversity at the university and help guide the collaborative work of the Department with other university departments, offices and programs. With this general purpose, the Diversity Advisory Board will focus on the following goals:- To communicate and discuss issues that have an effect on the students, faculty and staff regarding diversity at the university
- To provide a venue for individuals or departments who wish to share particular information or specific issues regarding diversity on campus
- To propose collaborative initiatives that will improve diversity and contribute to the campus climate, recruitment and retention at the university
- To provide a network of individuals that can foster a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for members of our diverse community
- To provide a forum from which members can effectively communicate pertinent information and ideas to one another so that diversity initiatives on campus can be centralized and effectively used by the campus community
Meetings
The Advisory Board will meet four times over the course of the academic year to address the Department of Student Diversity and Multicultural Affairs' strategic planning and continued development of its four components. Members are asked to serve on the advisory board for three years. Meeting agendas will be set by theDepartment. Agenda topics can be suggested by members of the board at any time for an upcoming meeting. Minutes will be distributed by the Department through e-mail.
Subcommittees
Subcommittees may form as needed or by suggestion or request. The Department of Student Diversity and Multicultural Affairs has formed a small committee to assist with the allocation of the Unity in Diversity Fund and another to address contemporary diversity issues on campus and formulate recommendations through relevant channels.
Membership
Membership of the Diversity Advisory Board comprises the Department's professional staff, key university administrators, student leaders and other strategically selected at-large members. The following is a list of campus representatives on the Diversity Advisory Board:
