Our Sisterhood & Events
LUCES provides a safe space for the multigenerational community of self-identified Women of Color at LUC. Reaffirming the power of global sisterhood, LUCES Sisters aim to grow and transform through increased self and social awareness, and action toward solidarity and social justice. LUCES allows us to celebrate the cultural influences in our lives, explore commonalities among each other’s experiences, and support each other through personal and community growth.
LUCES intentionally provides a space for critical self-reflection and exploration of identity within the dominate campus environment. This space allows Sisters to re-energize through validation and nurturing of their identities, connection with mentors within their community, practice of multicultural understanding, and engagement through leadership opportunities within LUCES.
The LUCES space is provided in monthly gatherings where the multigenerational community of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff come together over food and informal dialogue inspired by a topic of wellness.
LUCES Monthly Gatherings: All gatherings take place 4pm – 5pm in the Mundelein Greenhouse (7th Floor Mundelein, look out for signs to the Greenhouse once you exit the elevators on the 7th floor).
