Mission

The mission of Loyola's North Lake Shore Earth Day 2009 is to bring together the north lake shore   communities of Andersonville, Edgewater, Ravenswood, Rogers Park, Uptown and West Ridge to host an event that will provide meaningful programming, guest speakers and displays in the interest of raising awareness about environmental problems while highlighting local businesses, organizations and environmental initiatives .

Goals

  • Provide community members with a better understanding of global climate change and how it affects them and future generations;
  • Empower participants to advocate for potential policy changes that could stop global climate change and to take action;
  • Inspire participants to incorporate greener-living practices in their own homes and businesses and share what they have learned with others in their communities.

Theme

This year's theme is a simple call to action.  ACT LOCALLY!  Participants will be asked to pledge their committement to changing at least one thing or engage in an activity over the next year that serves to save our planet.
