The School of Education is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education* (NCATE) and the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools* (NCA). All degree programs that lead to state licensure are approved by the Illinois State Board of Education* (ISBE). In addition, the Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and the Ph.D. in School Psychology are accredited by the American Psychological Association* (APA).
The U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation recognize NCATE as a professional accrediting body for teacher preparation. NCATE is a coalition of 33 member organizations of teachers, teacher educators, content specialists, and local and state policy makers. All are committed to quality teaching, and together, the coalition represents over 3 million individuals
NCATE is the teaching profession’s organization to help establish high quality teacher, specialist, and administrator preparation.
