Cohort Program
About the Program
The School of Education's cohort program is designed for adult professionals currently working in schools or other occupational settings. A cohort is a group of students who attend together all of the required courses leading to a degree. Students benefit from networking and bonding with one another during the course of their two- or three-year program. The cohort program focuses on practical issues faced by educators in real schools and provides students a strong foundation in educational theory.
Locations: Each cohort attends classes in a location near students' homes and places of employment, usually a sponsoring school site. Or, classes may be held at Loyola's Water Tower Campus. (Parking discounts available with validation at Water Tower Campus for Loyola guests/students.) Cohort classes are scheduled in the evenings or on Saturday mornings depending on the program to accommodate working students' schedules.
Faculty: Seventy-five percent of cohort classes are taught by full- or part-time Loyola faculty, and the remaining courses are taught by practitioners in the field who are specialists in the topics they teach.
Cohort Openings: The School of Education's cohort programs provide students with a unique opportunity to build relationships throughout the course of their study together. Once a cohort is formed, the students remain together for the duration of their degree program. New students are not admitted to a cohort after it begins, but they may join newly forming cohorts. For details about when and where a cohort will be starting, please contact the School of Education's Graduate Enrollment Advisor at 312.915.8907 or SchlEduc@luc.edu.
