General Instructions
To apply for admission to the graduate programs in the School of Education, the following documents are required from domestic applicants:- A completed admission application
- A $50 non-refundable application fee (fee waived for online application)
- One set of official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions attended, showing a GPA of at least 3.0*
- Three letters of recommendation
- A statement of purpose. Please write a narrative of one to three pages that describes your:
- Academic and research interests, as well as professional goals
- Life experiences that have influenced your view of social justice
In addition to these general requirements, applicants to the master's program in elementary or secondary education also need:
- A current resume that highlights work experience relevant to your professional goals
- Illinois Basic Skills Test* - study guide and registration at http://www.icts.nesinc.com
* Passing scores must be submitted prior to second semester registration in order to continue in the program.
For international applicants, the following documents are required in addition to those listed above:
- TOEFL or IELTS scores
- A Declaration and Certification of Finances Form (PDF)
- Course-by-course evaluations of international transcripts by an outside credentialing service. Go to www.ece.org for information about this service and to download an application.
