English as a Second Language (ESL) Endorsement

Overview

This program is designed to equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to effectively teach English Language Learners (ELLs) in the mainstream classroom and the English as a Second Language (ESL) context. The program provides comprehensive instruction specific to ELLs in today’s classrooms, including second language acquisition theories and research, effective and innovative methods of instruction and assessment, and comprehensive knowledge about language, language policy, and more. 

Cohort options

  • Vernon Hills: (Cuneo Mansion and Gardens Campus)
  • Lake Shore Campus:
    • Chicago Community Trust Cohort (also referred to as Language Matters)
    • Chicago Public Schools Network 2 Cohort
  • Water Tower Campus:
  • Non-cohort option: For on-campus graduate students not tied to a specific cohort, classes will be held on Lake Shore or Water Tower Campus.

Tuition varies based on the cohort and location selection.
