Teacher Preparation Clinical Experiences
Pre-Student Teaching Clinical Experiences
Clinical experiences are designed to give students an opportunity to become involved in off campus educational experiences. Clinical experiences include guided observations such as tutoring, attending school board meetings, observing classroom activities, conducting small group or whole class instruction and judging academic contests. Each program has different requirements; please read forms carefully before filling out.

Student Teaching
Student Teaching is the culminating experience of the program. The capstone of teacher preparation is guided practice in the actual activity of teaching. Student teaching also gives the prospective teacher the opportunity to blend theory and practice and to develop an individual teaching style.
Applications must be submitted a year in advance of the semester in which you plan to student teach. The deadlines are:
- October 1 for Fall Semester Student Teaching*
- October 1 for Summer Semester Practicum* (for those who hold a valid Teaching Certificate)
- March 1 for Spring Semester Student Teaching*
* Mandatory pre-student teaching meeting 2 - 3 weeks prior to the application deadline. Will be notified by e-mail with specific dates and information. If you cannot attend this meeting, please contact the Clinical Coordinator directly to make alternative meeting arrangements.
