About

As a philosopher of education, I explore ethical and political dilemmas that arise in education.  My recent work has focused on relationships between parents, children and schools, particular as this involves gendered notions of public and private.  The philosophers whose work I draw on most often are John Dewey and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, whose work is interesting to me for different reasons: Dewey because his answers make so much sense and Rousseau because his questions were so right and his answers so wrong.  When I'm not reading, writing and teaching philosophy of education, I like to spend time with my two daughters, take advantage of Chicago's musical and theatrical offerings, and spend time outside.
