Dr. D'Agostino has taught at Loyola University Chicago since 1989. Her doctoral research was in the field of developmental endocrinology focusing on the regulation of circulating binding proteins. She completed two postdoctoral fellowships before arriving at  Loyola, one at Baylor College of Medicine and the second at Northwestern University where she continued her research in endocrinology studying the production of insulin and insulin-like proteins in the placenta and the hormonal regulation of mammalian reproductive physiology. Her publications have appeared in numerous academic journals including the American Journal of Physiology, Endocrinology, and Science.

Since arriving at Loyola, Dr. D'Agostino's research interests have shifted to the area of science education. She was the co-principal investigator on two grants spanning more than 15 years - SCIENCE 2001 funded by ISBE and the Chicago GEAR UP Alliance funded by the Department of Education. The goal of these projects has been to improve science education in Chicago-area schools.  In addition to her work in the department, Dr. D’Agostino currently serves as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in the College of Arts and Sciences and Director of Loyola's annual Advanced Placement Summer Institute.
