ESL Consultation
The ESL Program is happy to provide expert advice on issues such as language requirements for admission, language assessments, ESL needs analysis, ESL tutor training, academic support for non-native speakers, teaching and advising non-native English speaking students, etc.

Language Assessment
To assist faculty, program directors and deans in advising and placement decisions, ESL administers a comprehensive language assessment battery upon request. Students may initiate this or can be referred by an advisor.

Recommendations and ESL advising
In addition to testing, ESL can assist faculty and advisors in other academic areas with advising recommendations for non-native students, including recommendations for ESL coursework as well as suggestions for what sort of regular courses might be best (or best avoided) at the outset.

Special course/program development
The ESL needs of students of particular academic programs can be met by means of tutoring, supported sections, special courses or some combination thereof. Designing and implementing such support services is done in cooperation with (and at the request of) directors and faculty of those academic areas in which needs exist.
