Ethics and Social Justice Portal

A Meeting Place for Interdisciplinary Communication

To support the efforts of members of the Loyola community engaged in activities and research related to ethics and social justice issues, the Center for Ethics will soon launch the Ethics and Social Justice Portal. The purpose of this project - developed during the last year with the help of the Computer Sciences department - is to help its members communicate information regarding ethics and social justice events, news, and regarding the members. own interests and projects, so that other members can know about them and provide feedback and ideas.

While there are a great number of ethics and social justice activities constantly going on at Loyola, the problem of publicizing them efficiently has been a common source of frustration, both for the organizers and for the public interested in them. Not uncommonly, wheels have been painstakingly invented in one project that were already spinning efficiently several doors away. The Ethics and Social Justice Portal aims at filling this need. Members can easily post information on events as soon as they find out about them; this information is conveniently displayed at the Portal's "hub," the Pinboard. Do you participate in some service activity and would like others to join? You can add it to the Pinboard. Would you like feedback or guidance on some research field you have just undertaken? Would like to check if someone else in another department is doing something similar? Would you like opinions on the syllabus for a course you will be teaching? The Portal makes it easy to submit comments to the items its members post. As more users take advantage of it, its usefulness increases exponentially.

We need beta testers!

The Ethics and Social Justice Portal is currently undergoing beta testing. We need testers from different departments to try it out and give us their feedback on its performance, features and functionality.
If you would like to volunteer as a beta tester, please contact us at ethics@luc.edu.

Thanks!
