Going Fourth & Discernment Dinners

The Discernment Dinner program brings together undergraduate students with faculty and staff to discuss the hopes, fears, and transitions that come with discerning life after college.  Each group will consist of at least one Loyola faculty or staff member and approximately five Loyola students.

Going Fourth dinners are a new initiative for the 2011-2012 school year. These dinners, while similar to the Discernment Dinners, are open to senior students only. They will gather five senior students with a faculty or staff member to discuss what life after graduation will look like.

Faculty and staff members will invite the students into their homes for these informal conversations, to provide the students with a warm environment to generate conversation. There are several dinners each semester. This also provides the students with a valuable faculty mentor as they proceed into the daunting world of answering their vocational call and finding a job. These conversations will form the basis for lasting relationships focused on vocation and calling.

Upcoming Going Fourth & Discernment Dinner Dates:

What students are saying:

EVOKE’s Discernment Dinner offered us an amazing opportunity to meet a small group of other students who were also in the process of discovering what their life’s calling might be. We not only got support from other undecided students, but we also got the privilege of meeting a fascinating faculty member who was generous enough to invite us all into her own home and cook us a delicious meal. In the middle of a busy semester, every day life can make you forget the underlying purpose in everything we do at Loyola. This dinner was a perfect reminder of what our big picture goals are and the resources that Loyola has to help us reach them.
