Considering Our Lives as Vocation

A Five Week Self-Guided Lenten Discernment Retreat for Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Students.

Retreat begins Ash Wednesday. Retreat kits will be mailed beginning January 2009.

  • Open to Loyola faculty, staff, and graduate students
  • Free, materials and mailing costs covered by Evoke
  • This retreat is self-guided, materials provided by Evoke
  • Focused on your own exploration of your life and your callings

All of us yearn for happiness. We want to know that our lives are spent on things that matter, that our lives have purpose and meaning. We discover purpose and meaning in a number of ways - through our family and friendships, as participants in communities of faith and civic life, and in the self-expression that is our work and study. This retreat will provide you with an opportunity to consider these different dimensions of your life in light of God's invitation to you.

This self-guided retreat will take you on a journey of prayerful self-exploration through the lens of vocation. As Frederick Buechner has written, our vocation, or our calling, can be understood as that place "where our deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet." Our hope is that this five week journey will provide a daily respite in which you can pause, listen, and tap into the voice of vocation in your life, savoring the varied ways that God calls you to live a life of service that contributes to the good of God's world.

All Loyola faculty, staff, and graduate students are welcome to participate in this self-guided retreat. You may register at any time. Retreat kits will be mailed beginning January 2009.
