All of us yearn for happiness. We want to know that our lives are spent on things that matter, that our lives have purpose and meaning. We discover purpose and meaning in a number of ways - through our family and friendships, as participants in communities of faith and civic life, and in the self-expression that is our work and study. This retreat will provide you with an opportunity to consider these different dimensions of your life in light of God's invitation to you.

This self-guided retreat will take you on a journey of prayerful self-exploration through the lens of vocation. As Frederick Buechner has written, our vocation, or our calling, can be understood as that place "where our deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet." Our hope is that this five week journey will provide a daily respite in which you can pause, listen, and tap into the voice of vocation in your life, savoring the varied ways that God calls you to live a life of service that contributes to the good of God's world.

You may register beginning January 2010.

This retreat has been offered since 2005 at Loyola University Chicago and is based on the work of the Lilly Endowment at the College of the Holy Cross. We are deeply grateful to our friends and colleagues at Holy Cross for making this retreat available to our community.
