Having devoted his life to the study of what makes people happy, Patch Adams, M.D., believes that laughter, joy, and creativity are an integral part of the healing process. Dr. Adams is coming to Loyola to share his unique perspectives on healing, healthcare, and working from the mind and the human spirit. Patch Adams, M.D., is a renowned medical doctor, clown, social activist, and subject of the blockbuster film Patch Adams. Dr. Adams is a rabble-rouser who has devoted 30 years to changing America's healthcare system, a system he describes as expensive and elitist. He also is the founder and director of the Gesundheit Institute, a holistic medical community that has provided free medical care to thousands of patients since it began in 1971.
