Vocation of Peacemaking Series

ABOUT THE SERIES

We live in challenging times: the 9/11 tragedy, the war on terrorism, threats of nuclear proliferation, intercultural and interreligious conflict, and the use of torture. We are left asking profound questions about war and peace, truth and justice, and vocation. We are called to discover, in ourselves, where “our deep gladness and the world’s great hunger meet” (Frederick Buechner), and to act on this.

In this context, the Center for Ethics, Evoke, Hillel, the Institute of Pastoral Studies, the Office of the Vice President for Mission and Ministry, the Jesuit Community, and University Ministry are proud to announce the Vocation of Peacemaking Series. This series will bring speakers to Loyola who have asked these profound questions and responded to the call to be peacemakers in their lives. They have engaged in dialogue, served in Iraq, organized nonviolent social movements, and been to prison—always planting seeds of love and hope.
