"A Purpose Guided Apporach to Navigating College Transitions" (link to article)
Dr. Bill Millard, Indiana Wesleyan University

This article by Dr. Bill Millard, of Indiana Wesleyan University, is a “how-to” for guiding an undergraduate through the process of discovering a “life calling,” or vocation.  His program has developed in in-depth process which is illustrated in several diagrams throughout the article.  The whole article is based on the concept that many students choose a field other than their college major within just a year of graduation.  Through an intensive, guided program, Millard seeks to develop a greater awareness of calling so that the college student does not have what he calls a “purpose-deficient experience.”  Millard describes a different step and approach for each year of a typical college education (allowing for some overlap), which is a valuable resource for any student wishing to explore vocation.

"Unleash the Power of Purpose in Your Life" (link to article)
Dr. Bill Millard, Indiana Wesleyan University

Millard’s article on the exploration of life vocation as calling is a well-organized, enlightening piece about discovering what to do in life.  In addition to a number of personal stories of his own struggle with the question of what to do with his life, Millard presents a well-organized map of the process of discerning vocation, with clearly described terminology and steps.  The “Life Calling Model” clearly outlines the process of ongoing discernment throughout one’s life, focusing on the three steps of foundational values, unique design, and personal mission.  Millard gives a well-thought out process useful to anyone exploring vocation.
