Overview
Out-sourcing, lean manufacturing, just-in-time inventory and the global economic downturn have put a new type of pressure on supply chains, making it more important than ever for organizations to manage their supply chains effectively. These pressures make it critical for supply chain managers to have the skills and tools to improve their supply chain performance, and they highlight the need for managers from throughout the organization to better understand the supply chain and its impact on their function.
Sessions on general logistics, transportation, warehousing, and inventory control are presented, highlighting how each area plays a key role in the supply chain process. Emphasis is placed on the fundamental strategies, operational tactics and challenges involved with managing a supply chain both domestically and internationally.
Professionals completing this program will leave with a level of comfort in discussing SCM issues pertinent to their job, understanding why their decision-making process may impact the supply chain, and how this knowledge can lead to competitive advantage.
