Seminar Overview:
There’s a new young professional entering the workforce today, one that is different in attitude, behavior and their approach to work and their careers. Differences are manifested through everything from work styles to communication, expectations for advancement and promotion to dress and an interest in greater flexibility from their employers. Because of these changes, generational tensions exists and now Human Resource professionals, managers and others are wondering how to bridge the gap in order to work more effectively with a generation out to do things different.

- Technical v. “Soft Skills” and how the skill development can make a difference
- Where To Put Your Energy to Make a Difference with the Millineals
- How communications is at the center of day-to-day work matters across the generations
- Various types of communication channels and related changes in the electronic age
- Explore various types of communication channels used in business to be more effective working side by side with multiple generations
- How conflict is manifested across the generations and why; how to overcome conflict
Instructional Approach:
In this two day seminar course, faculty will engage participants through a variety of instructional tools including lecture content, engagement/participation, exercises and small group discussion.
Course Length: Two full days (9a – 4p)
About the Instructors:
Stephanie McCray, is President of Executive Material, a Chicago based coaching, training and consulting firm. Stephanie specializes in performance improvement strategies for businesses, intact teams and high potential individuals. Stephanie’s career spans more than 20 years in the corporate arena where she held a variety of leadership positions working for best in class companies such as Allstate Insurance Company, Advocate Health Care and State Farm Insurance Company.
Stephanie received her certification as an Integral Coach from New Ventures West in San Francisco, California. She is also a member of the Chicago Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development (CC-ASTD), the National Association of Female Executives and is listed in the Manchester’s Who’s Who Registry of Executives and Professionals.
Mary Burns, is the Managing Director of Executive Education at Loyola University and a member of the Graduate School of Business faculty. She is the author of Entitled to What? A Reality Check for the Generation Entering Corporate America a book written for the Millineals as they transition from college life to their careers. Mary provides companies and other organization with ideas and solutions to making their diverse generational workplace more effective.
