Where We Serve
In the 2012-2013 academic year:
- 1,983 unique students engaged in volunteer work through service-learning classes
- That service benefitted 444 unique partners/community projects in Chicago and beyond
- Students provided approximately 116,632 hours of voluntary service
- Using the Independent Sector's estimate of the value of volunteer hours (2012) of $22.14/hour, these efforts equated to $2,582,232.40 in goods and services
The following interactive map shows sites where Loyola students documented engagement through service-learning in Fall 2012 and Spring 2013. Variable sized symbols indicate the number of students who served at each site; in some cases, entire classes partnered with specific organizations to complete one or more projects or answer community-proposed research questions.
