Motion Parallax
You are in a car that is moving to the left. Out the window, you can see the things pictured above. You are fixating on the school. Everything that is closer than the fixation point will move across your visual field in the opposite direction from you, while everything further than fixation will move in the same direction as you. In other words, while you move to the left, everything that is between you and the school will move away from you to the right across your visual field, while everything further from you than the school will move with you to the left. In addition, the further from fixation the object is, the faster the object will move across your visual field. Also, for any particular distance from fixation, objects closer than fixation will move faster than objects further from fixation.
