A commentary on the Iranian elections

Upcoming in Spring 2010: Turkish Elections Project

I joined the political science department at Loyola in August 2005 after earning my Ph.D. at the University of Michigan. I conduct research on religion, elections, and party politics in Iran, Indonesia, and Turkey and Kurdish nationalism. The themes I address in my scholarly work include: (1) the moderation theory and political Islam; (2) political attitudes of Muslim publics; (3) the relationship between secularism, liberalism, and democracy; (4) judicial activism; (5) ethnic conflict; and (6) spatial statistics and electoral competition. I teach courses on the Middle East, Shiite Islam, democratization, and politics of energy.
