Questions for Peer Review of Writing Assignments

• Briefly summarize the central point the essay makes, as it seems to the team when you read it.
• How well does the writer focus on the question assigned? -[restate assigned question]- Please suggest your ideas how the writer could improve focus.
• Briefly outline how the writer organizes the composition. How well does the organization support the writer’s argument? Any ideas to improve organization?
• How well does the writer make the composition hang together? Ideas to improve cohesiveness?
• How well does the writer support the argument with valid evidence and explanation? Ideas how to improve substance?
• How well does the writer inform you with evidence and ideas? Ideas to improve content?
• How well does the writer compose clear sentences? Ideas to improve clarity?
• How readable is the composition? Ideas to improve style?
• How well does the writer persuade you to believe the argument? Ideas to improve persuasiveness?
• Keep the exercise constructive - all suggestions should aim to help everyone write as effectively as possible.
