Mammalian Egg Ovulation
In response to LH stimulation, the mammalian full-grown graffian follicle ruptures and the ovulated egg is released into the ampulla (opening) of the oviduct. Fertilization can take place in the upper third of the oviduct. The fertilized egg develops and travels down to the uterus. At the early blastula stage it reaches the uterine endometrial wall for possible implantation.
