All incoming Loyola students are required to take AlcoholEdu for College, which is a component of the university’s alcohol misuse prevention initiative. Instructions on how to access the online course will be sent to your Loyola e-mail account from the Dean of Students. You must complete Part 1 of the course by August 20. Approximately 45 days later, you will receive an e-mail asking you to complete Part 2. You will not successfully complete the course until you finish Part 2 and pass the exam. The Office of the Bursar is responsible for the billing of tuition and fees, collecting payments, processing refunds and adjusting students' accounts. The Bursar is offering extended hours at the beginning of Fall Semester:

Look for e-Bills: Only electronic bills—no paper bills—are sent out on the 15th of every month. If you have account balances, you’ll get an e-mail to review e-Bills in LOCUS—and payment is due by the 5th of the following month. Your Campus Card is your key to many services offered by the university, including campus shuttle, Halas Sports Center, libraries, parking lots, dining halls and more. For detailed information, please visit: LUC.edu/campuscard.
The Campus Card Office is offering extended hours for the beginning of Fall Semester to assist with replacement cards or to troubleshoot any problems with an existing card. Replacement cards cost $25 and may be purchased using cash, check or credit card.

Students can also use the ID card as a debit card. During the Fall and Spring Semesters, students are able to add Rambler Bucks to their ID card for use in the bookstores by submitting a Charge Authorization Form (forms are accepted through Sept. 7). Visit Halas Sports Center to work out, meet new people and have a good time. Membership at Halas is included in all full-time undergraduate student fees, so be sure to check out everything the facility has to offer: cardio and variable-resistance machines; a swimming pool; free weights; basketball, volleyball and badminton courts; saunas and a pro shop. Numerous group fitness and non-credit instructional classes are offered weekly.
Renovation of Halas Sports Center's main floor is underway. The main office will be open August 21. Pro shop operation will relocate to the main office so that renovations to the current shop area can begin August 27. The Halas lobby will be refurbished with new paint, carpet and ceilings. The renovation project is expected to be completed by the end of October.

Loyola University Chicago's Board of Trustees requires that all undergraduate students enrolled for 12 or more credit hours and all graduate and professional students enrolled for 8 or more credit hours (or registered for thesis or dissertation supervision) at the start of Fall Semester have individual health care insurance.
If you meet the enrollment criteria above, you will be enrolled automatically in Loyola's Health Care Plan for Students and your account will be billed accordingly. If you are covered by your parent's medical insurance plan, or if you have an individual policy, then you must complete a waiver to opt out of the plan and avoid unwanted charges on your tuition bill. - Parking Permits
Loyola students may apply for resident or commuter parking permits. Resident parking on-campus is very limited. To obtain a resident parking permit, students must enter a lottery at: LUC.edu/parking/residentstudent.shtml. Only students who live on-campus in Loyola residence halls may apply for a resident permit. Resident permits will only be given to those who enter and win the permit lottery. Commuter students may apply for a parking permit at: LUC.edu/parking/commuter_students.shtml. Permits will be available for pick-up on the following dates:

Campus shuttle service will begin operation for the 2007 - 2008 academic year on August 27, with a 7 a.m. pick-up from Water Tower Campus and a 7:30 a.m. pick-up from Lake Shore Campus. Final shuttles depart both campuses at midnight. The shuttle operates Monday - Friday during the regular academic year while classes are in session. Please note that the Water Tower Campus shuttle stop has moved from the Law Library across the street to the Terry Student Center at Baumhart Hall, 26 E. Pearson. All shuttle drop-offs and pick-ups will take place on Pearson St. in front of Baumhart.
8-Ride service begins August 24 at 6:30 p.m. 8-Ride operates from 6:30 p.m. - 2:15 a.m., seven days a week, during the regular academic year while classes are in session.

Lake Shore Campus: The Student Center Information Desk in the lobby of Centennial Forum offers a wide variety of services: Students can purchase stamps and envelopes, send or receive faxes, buy balloon bouquets, and watch for student organization ticket sales. While in the Lake Shore Student Center, be sure to check out Zipoli's: It’s a spot for students to relax and do homework, play pool and video games or watch TV. Located in the lower level of Centennial Forum, next to the student organization offices, Student Activities and the Copy Center, Zip's is always offering something fun for students to do. New this year are the following arcade games: Golden Tee golf, Silver Stroke 2007 bowling, Bean Bag Toss, JVL Orion multi-game players, Galaxy II dart machine, and Pac-Man. Look for upcoming events on calendars posted throughout the Student Center.

All students are issued a university e-mail account. Your Loyola e-mail address is your Universal ID followed by @luc.edu. Students use GroupWise 7 WebAccess, which offers many features, including instant messaging, and expanded functionality. Your Loyola-assigned student e-mail account is the primary way administrators and professors communicate with you. You are responsible for checking your Loyola e-mail on a regular basis. Community Service Fair: Dozens of local community organizations will be present to provide information and opportunities for volunteering in our neighborhood and throughout Chicago. Thursday, Sept. 20, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., CFSU Lobby.
Loyola4Chicago: Loyola4Chicago students provide 4 hours/week of volunteer service in Chicago through the academic year. Students work in service teams and meet monthly to deepen their friendships, reflect on their experiences and share the faith that does justice. Register now through Friday, Sept. 7.
Madonna della Strada Reopening: To celebrate the reopening of Madonna della Strada Chapel, the Loyola community is invited to attend a special Mass at the chapel on September 13 at 11:30 a.m. Cardinal Francis George, O.M.I., will preside at Mass and consecrate the chapel's new altar. Because seating in the chapel is extremely limited, tickets will be required, and there is a limit of one ticket per person. Immunizations: The state of Illinois requires all students who are registered for seven or more semester or quarter hours to submit up-to-date immunization records. Send your records to the Wellness Center. Students who fail to comply will be blocked from registration. Overdue notices will be sent to your Loyola e-mail account. Wellness Fair: Wednesday, October 3, from 1 - 4 p.m., Gentile Center, Lake Shore Campus.
