"Going to College was My Introduction to The University of Life" 4-5 p.m. LUMA, 3rd Floor (Simpson), WTC Join one of our distinguished Professors of Business Ethics, Dr. Al Gini, from the Quinlan School of Business give a memorable lecture.
"Faith Traditions, Ethics, & Civic Engagement: Why What We Value Matters in the 21st Century" 4-5 p.m. Damen Student Center, Schmidt MPR South Join one of our distinguished Professors of Christian Social Ethics, Dr. Aana Vigen, from the College of Arts and Sciences give a memorable lecture.
Team Loyola AIDS Run & Walk Chicago Bib Pick Up 4-8 p.m. Damen Student Center, Schmidt MPR North Registered members of Team Loyola can pick up their race bibs and get final details for Saturday's events. "Lost in Yonkers" Fall Theatre Production (The Department of Fine & Performing Arts) 7:30 p.m. Newhart Family Theatre (Mundelein Center) During WWII, two brothers are left in the care of their strict, formidable grandmother and loving, eccentric aunt in this Tony, Drama Desk, and Pulitzer-Prize winning play by America's master of poignant comedy. Team Loyola AIDS Run & Walk Chicago  7:15 a.m.-Noon Damen Student Center 1st Floor  Team Loyola, a long-standing Loyola tradition, will participate in the annual AIDS Run/Walk Chicago at Soldier Field.  Participants must register in advance, by September 18.  Visit LUC.edu/aidswalk for full details.
Java with the Jesuits 9 a.m.-noon Ignatius House Open House with our University's Jesuit Community - Coffee/Tea and Pastries provided.

Rock Wall Climbing 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Halas Recreational Center Students are encouraged to bring their families into Halas to enjoy some climbing! All climbers will be asked to participate in a short Rock Wall Orientation and sign a waiver before climbing. Any individual that can fit into the Youth Harness or Adult Harness that Halas offers is welcome to climb.
“Supporting Our Students' Ethical Development” Concurrent Session  10-11 a.m. McCormick Lounge, Coffey Hall The Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution will facilitate an interactive discussion about how to support students' ethical development through the college years. The discussion will include an introduction to the Student Promise, the Community Standards (Loyola's Code of Conduct), and the various ways parents and the University can work together to encourage responsible decision-making by focusing on students' individual values and those of the Loyola community.
"Building a Bridge over Troubled Waters" Concurrent Session 10-11 a.m. Quinlan Life Sciences Building, Room 142 Parent Session on helping your student overcome homesickness while supporting their independence.
"Exploring a Spiritual Path" Concurrent ession 10-11 a.m. Damen Student Center, Schmidt MPR North Parent Session on exploring what it means for Loyola to be a Jesuit, Catholic institution and a home for all faiths.
"My student is participating in a Learning Community - what more should I know?" Presented by Tara Sullivan, Director of Learning Communities 10-11 a.m. Mullady Theatre, Centennial Forum  Is your student living in a Learning Community? This session will provide an overview of the Learning Community experience and will help families support their students in getting the most out of their Learning Community. Come hear directly from faculty who teach in the Learning Communities and from the student leaders who live and work with your students.
Family BBQ noon-1:30 p.m. East Quad (Rain Site: Gentile Arena) Join Family Weekend attendees, staff, and faculty for an outdoor family BBQ celebration & music by DJ Persist.
"Sustainability at LUC" Concurrent Session 1:30-3 p.m. Quinlan Life Sciences Building, Room 142 Parent Session on various sustainability efforts on campus with a tour of the new Institute on Sustainability on Lake Shore Campus.
"Social Justice, a Campus in Action" Concurrent Session 1:30-3 p.m. Crown Center Auditorium Parent Session to discuss what social justice means here at Loyola with a panel of current Loyola students.
“My student is in the Honors Program – what more should I know?” Presented by Claudio Katz, Professors and Honors Program Director 2-3 p.m. Flanner Hall, Room 133 Parent Session for parents who have a student participating in the Honors Program for the 2013-2014 academic year.
"First Generation Parent Outreach" Concurrent Sessions 3:15-4:15 p.m. Quinlan Life Sciences Building, Room 142 Parent Session to learn about ways to support your first-generation student navigate college life.
"Living in Rogers Park and Edgewater" Concurrent Session 3:15-4:15 p.m. Mullady Theatre, Centennial Forum Parent Session to explore ways in which our college community exists and interacts with our neighborhoods.
"My student is considering Studying Abroad - What more should I know?"  Presented by Pat Boyle, Associate Provost  3-4 p.m. Galvin Auditorium, Sullivan Center Parent Session for parents who have a son or daughter participating in or considering participation in Studying Abroad.
