The pace of change in our world is accelerating at an amazing rate. Family business transitions that used to happen across three generations now happen within one. Addressing these challenges can place strains on both families and businesses, and finding meaningful roles for family members to play can be difficult.

Building on a foundation of values, we will explore how families can create practical action plans that will create a unified sense of purpose and involvement for all family members. Our session will offer participants a process that they can use to create action plans for themselves, their families and their businesses.

We will then look at how these plans can be used to prepare the next generation and build unity in family and business. This will provide a foundation that will allow family members to pursue their gifts in a way that personal and family values can become a platform for success.

Morning Sessions

Kick off the morning with a session that will explore how cohesion and family unity are important keys to long term family business success. You'll begin to develop an action planning process that will help your family use values as a stabilizing force in dealing with challenges such as succession, changing business environments and family growth.

Then learn from a panel of Family Business Center Members who will share their experiences to explore:

• How governance is used by their families to build unity
• Key ways to involve family members
• Lessons on how to bridge the differences between the generations
• Strategies to build a common direction

Afternoon Sessions

In the afternoon, you'll build off the knowledge and work from the morning sessions, to learn how to use the action planning process to craft shared values into a definition of success that guides planning and decision-making for both individuals and the family. Particular attention will be paid to helping next generation family members find a role in life that aligns their values and goals with that of the business.

The Program will wrap up with a session that helps you to identify and create clear next steps to implement the action plan. You'll also learn how you and your family can make the most of your Family Business Center membership by tapping into the Center's vast knowledge and resources.
