401k Business Financing Scholarship: $1,000

MySolo401k.net is a leading facilitator of 401k small business financing. Our 401k SelfStarter Plan, also known as a rollover as business startup (ROBS), allows entrepreneurs to fund a business or franchise with their retirement funds without taking a taxable distribution or loan. By minimizing debt, the business is more likely to succeed.  Ultimately, we empower individuals to turn their idea or concept from a dream into a reality.

Of course, we know the benefits of funding a business or franchise with 401k, IRA or other retirement funds, but we want to hear it from your perspective: What are the benefits of using retirement funds to purchase or fund a business or franchise? Why should an individual use retirement funds over traditional forms of small business financing (equity and debt financing)? What is the long term value of the ROBS transaction to a business owner?

Who:

Any student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at any accredited United States university, college or trade school.

What:

A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded; this money can be used toward tuition or books.

How:

Applicants must submit an essay of 1,000 words minimum on the topic "What are the benefits of using funds in your 401k, IRA or other retirement account to finance your business or franchise?”

We will select one top award winner who will receive a $1,000 unrestricted scholarship (unrestricted means you can buy pizza with the award instead of books if you want—the check is in your name).  The winning essay will be posted on ACLSMedicalTraining.com along with the second and third best essays. How will you handle the situation when the time comes? If you have  already performed lifesaving techniques, what was it like? Did you use the skills you were taught? There are no correct answers—we are looking for honest, compelling essays.

What do I write about?

Innovation in Education Scholarship

At LA Tutors, we believe that it’s more than just the grades that make a great well-rounded student. Each one of you is creative in his or her own way: some of you blog; others curate documentary photography on Instagram that helps us understand the world better; and still others find imaginative ways to solve problems in their public and private lives. Creativity is the air each one of us breathes, but sometimes we get so concerned with grades that we forget that imagination is our natural problem solver.

One way to showcase your creativity is to innovate either by solving a problem, by designing something that helps others solve problems, or by enhancing our relationship with whatever matters to us. Innovation brings together in unique ways our technical skills and our hopes for a better world.

It also provides opportunities for gaining real-working experience in a chosen field, and gives students the chance to connect with adults outside their circle who might be able to help students get into their top choice college or get an internship. In the end, innovation makes people look at the bigger picture, which is the best preparation for college and for life.
We at LA Tutors are passionate about sparking the creative genius in students and would love to commend those outstanding students who have a made a difference in the lives of others in some innovative or technological fashion. In order to achieve this, we have established a scholarship for students who meet certain criteria.

Criteria:

Jan Egerton and Don Smitley Mesothelioma Scholarship

MesotheliomaHelp is pleased to announce the “Jan Egerton and Don Smitley Mesothelioma Scholarship.” We are proud to offer ten (10) scholarships in the names of these two mesothelioma warriors.

Jan Egerton battled mesothelioma for over 10 years and during that time she dedicated her life to raising awareness of the dangers of asbestos and to championing the researchers to continue to focus on finding a cure and new treatments for the cancer. Jan’s husband said, “I know Jan would be delighted to have this accolade, and I would be honored for you to use Jan’s name. This is a legacy of which she would be proud.” Jan was one of last year’s judges.

Don Smitley spent his days enjoying time with his family, his dog, Charley, and playing in his bluegrass band, The Dunbar Boys. No one ever heard Don complain or wonder, “Why me?” while he fought mesothelioma. But everyone that knew him would say that faith and a positive attitude carried him through each day. Don’s daughter, Jennifer Gelsick, chronicled her family’s journey during mesothelioma, and now discusses life after losing a loved one to mesothelioma through her blog. “We are so honored to have Dad’s name on the scholarship. It’s such a perfect way to remember and honor him,” said Jennifer. Jennifer will be one of the essay judges this year.

The scholarship is available to students in colleges and universities throughout the United States. Our goal is to help the educational efforts of students while raising awareness of mesothelioma and the dangers of asbestos. Mesothelioma is a disease that affects men and women – both young and old.

Each winner of this essay contest will be awarded a check from the law firm of Belluck & Fox, LLP. These funds must be used to pay for college tuition and / or education-related expenses.

One (1) essay per student is allowed.

Additional information can be found at www.mesotheliomahelp.org/scholarship-contest/.

2015 Michigan Auto Law Car Accident Injury Survivor Scholarship

Our Michigan auto accident law firm is offering an annual scholarship for college students who were victims of car accidents earlier in their lives and who have overcome their injuries.

We understand how difficult it can be to recover after a serious injury. Our attorneys have been helping people injured in auto accidents for more than 50 years, and want to lend a hand to those who have survived serious crashes and who are demonstrating resolve and determination to rebuild their lives.

We also want to recognize individual acts of heroism and hard work. Our Car Accident Injury Survivor Scholarship serves as an important reminder that each and every person injured in an auto accident is a person, not a number or a claim. Today, most of the insurance industry uses injury claims software that dehumanizes people by putting a dollar value on a case. When personal injuries and pain and suffering are given average dollar settlement values, we lose sight of what it means when someone is hurt in a serious crash and how drastically a life can be changed.

Our hope is that by recognizing outstanding young people who have overcome serious injury, we can remind everyone that car accident injury survivors are people.

Our annual scholarship of $500 will be awarded to two applicants in 2015.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Applicants must:

Selection is based on the overall strength of the application and how that applicant has overcome the challenges he or she has faced from being injured in a car accident.

Structured Settlement Career Planning Scholarship

Are you attending college in the United States and looking for a scholarship? We're providing a $1,000 scholarship for the 2015-2016 school year.

I'm proud to share that Roosevelt "Teddy" Lovett was not only my grandfather, but also one of my earliest teachers. He taught me to do things the proper way. Lessons I remember include counting, ironing, and finishing what I started--at least I know how to count well.

One lesson I learned by simply observing Roosevelt is that we should help people. I watched him help almost everyone who asked. He didn't make anyone grovel or feel embarrassed. He didn't take long to make up his mind--he just helped. He went out of his way to help. That's what I'm doing by creating this scholarship fund in his name and that's what you will do by responding to my prompt and creating an excellent resource for others.

Write 650-900 words for the prompt, "What Can College Students Do to Improve Their Job Prospects?"

On an unrelated note, you're welcome to connect with me on LinkedIn and Google+. If you follow the rules when submitting an application, I will do my best to help provide career guidance...presuming you seek it.

By applying for this scholarship, you agree to provide co-authorship rights to your response to our prompt and you agree to allow us to post your biographical information. The winning response will be published on this site as a resource for other students to utilize. We may use your response to create a derivative work, such as an article or video. Your bio will be posted to provide transparency.

It does not necessarily need to work (clearly, that would be unfair of us to ask). We are interested in seeing how creative and inventive you can be.

Enrollment Levels: College students and high school seniors in the United States
