    Apply for Financial Assistance

Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online before March 1, Loyola's financial assistance priority application date. Continuing undergraduate students who do not meet the March 1 priority application date may be considered for campus-based assistance only as funds are available. To meet the March 1 priority date, submit your FAFSA online by February 29. In order to submit the FAFSA online, you will need either a completed FASFA on the Web Worksheet or your completed 2007 federal tax return (if you haven't filed your 2007 tax return yet, use your 2006 tax return). You will also need all of your W-2 forms, interest statements, and any other necessary bank or asset account statements. To learn more about filing the FAFSA online, go to: LUC.edu/finaid/steps_file_FAFSA.shtml.

For real-time help as you complete the FAFSA at home, call the Office of Student Financial Assistance's (OSFA) FAFSA Hotline at: 773.508.7760. The Hotline will be available February 23 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. If you need help when the FAFSA Hotline is unavailable, call the Hub at: 773.508.7700.

If you or your family has extraordinary financial circumstances that are not evident in the FASFA information (i.e., recent job loss, excessive medical expenses, private elementary or high school tuition), you can submit a Special Circumstance Appeal to request that OSFA review your specific situation. Appeal forms are available at: LUC.edu/finaid.

For more information, e-mail OSFA at: lufinaid@luc.edu.

    Reapply for On-Campus Housing

Participate in the room reapplication process to secure on-campus housing for the 2008 - 2009 academic year. All students currently living on campus should check their campus mailboxes for housing contracts and reapplication information. Students currently living in upper-class residence halls must turn in their contracts and a $500 non-refundable, non-transferable housing prepayment at the Simpson Residence Life Office by February 22. Student currently living in first-year residence halls must turn in their contract and a $500 non-refundable, non-transferable housing prepayment at the Regis Hall Seminar Room between February 25 - 29.

The $500 non-refundable, non-transferable housing deposit must be submitted with your housing contract in the form of a check or money order made out to Loyola University Chicago. Credit card payments or cash will not be accepted. Selection of rooms will be made in order of lottery numbers.

Loyola requires all unmarried undergraduate students under the age of 21 to live on campus during their freshmen and sophomore year, unless they live at home with a parent or legal guardian. Sophomores may live in Baumhart, Fairfield, Fordham, Georgetown, Holy Cross, Marquette, Rockhurst, Seattle and Xavier Halls. Juniors and seniors are not required to live on campus, so there is no need to apply for an exemption from the housing requirement. Fill Out a Survey on Socially Responsible Investing

Take part in an online survey about socially responsible investing (SRI). In 2006, Loyola's Board of Trustees responded to students and other members of the Loyola community who expressed concerns about the university's holdings in companies and their role of capital in creating financial and society value. The Shareholder Advocacy Committee (SAC) was established in Spring 2007 to deliberate SRI issues confronting the university as an investor. SAC will engage with companies—through an approach centered on advocacy—in discussions concerning their practices and policies (i.e., letters of concern, inquiries); join forces with other like-minded advocacy groups in initiatives to effect positive change; advise on the voting of the university's shares; and serve the university as a resource for information on social responsibility and corporate governance.

SAC is currently working on developing an agenda and initiatives for the upcoming year, and seeks input from the Loyola community on areas of SRI concern to help guide focus and initiatives on issues that may pertain to the university's investments. Please complete the SRI survey, available at: https://surveys.luc.edu/opinio5/s?s=7810. This survey will be posted until February 29 at 5 p.m., and the results will be shared at SAC's first community meeting on April 3.

To learn more about SAC, visit: LUC.edu/sac.

    Life at Loyola This Week:

Life at Loyola Quote of the Week:

"I know there's nothing I can say or do to compensate for the lives lost in yesterday's tragedy. However, I want to say to the students and staff of NIU—stay strong and keep the memory of those who lost their lives in your hearts and thoughts, and also think of those who were injured. My thoughts are most certainly with all of you, and to all of the friends and families of the victims of this senseless act of violence."
