    Protect Yourself from Date Rape

Date rape drugs are often colorless, odorless and tasteless, and they usually dissolve quickly in liquids. These drugs are available in powder, tablet or liquid form. Date rape is common near college campuses, and it's important to follow these tips to help prevent you from becoming a victim:

    • Pour and prepare the beverages you consume. Avoid accepting drinks from people you don't know, regardless of if the drink is alcoholic or non-alcoholic.
    • Accept only closed containers, like bottles or cans, when you're at a party. You never know what someone could slip into a pitcher or punch bowl.
    • At bars, only accept drinks from a bartender. Stay alert and never take your eyes off your order.
    • Never leave your drink unattended. If you do, purchase a new beverage.
If you suspect that you have been the victim of date rape or sexual assault, immediately call the police or go to a hospital.
