    Participate in Student Government Elections

Consider running for an office in Unified Student Government (USG), an organization that works to meet the needs of students and acts as a liaison between students and university administration. The upcoming election marks USG's collaboration with Campus Programming Board (CLUB). USG is also changing its name, and students will have the opportunity to vote for the new name in the upcoming election.

All students interested in running for an office must submit a completed election packet, including an election petition, available at www.luc.edu/orgs/usg. Applicants must also attend one of the candidate meetings scheduled on April 10 and April 11. Completed application materials are due April 11 at 12:30 p.m. Campaigning officially begins April 11 at 11 p.m. All campaign materials must be approved by the election board prior to distribution. The election will be held in LOCUS from April 18 - April 19, and results will be posted April 20.

For more information about student government elections, e-mail: usg@luc.edu.

Prepare for Fall Registration: Check for Holds in LOCUS

Registration for Fall 2007 begins April 16 for undergraduate students. Check LOCUS to see if you have any holds on your account, which may prevent you from registering for classes. To view your holds, log into LOCUS and click on "Holds" under "Personal Portfolio." Check the access schedule to find out when you can register at: www.luc.edu/academics/schedules.

    Review These Campus Card Tips

Your Loyola ID card enables you to use many university services, including campus shuttles, Halas Sports Center, libraries, parking lots, dining halls and more. Always keep your Loyola ID card in a safe place. The cost of replacement cards is $25. Protect your Loyola ID card from damage by keeping it separate from your keys. For more information about your Loyola ID card and other Campus Card services, visit: www.luc.edu/campuscard.

    Take an Ethos Statement Survey

Share your thoughts and ideas about Loyola's Ethos Statement by completing an anonymous survey by April 16. The Ethos Statement is a document outlining the standards to which students are held accountable. The Ethos Statement Review Committee is revising the statement to better represent students. Please complete the survey to share your input with committee members. The survey is available at: http://studentvoice.com/p/?UUID=8fb68b8060b941e0bfca89e4b09e7ea2.

    Alter Your CTA Train Schedule

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is facilitating a $530 million project to increase capacity and modernize the Brown Line. Part of the construction plan involves widening platforms at the Belmont and Fullerton stations, which serve the Brown Line, Red Line and Purple Line Express. The CTA will close one track at a time to make these repairs, which means the current four-track operation will be reduced to three tracks. The first phase of the construction project began April 2, and the renovation is expected to be completed in December 2009. CTA users may experience longer travel times, slower boarding and more crowded trains on the Brown Line, Red Line and Purple Line Express, especially during the evening rush. Passengers are advised to consider varying the time of day they travel on the CTA, opting for off-peak hours. As part of its supplemental service plan, the CTA has added service to the 147 bus, which serves the Lake Shore and Water Tower campuses. For more information about the CTA project, visit: www.ctabrownline.com/threetrack.html.
