    Participate in a Prayer Service for Virginia Tech Victims

    The Loyola community is deeply saddened by the events that took place at Virgina Tech University this week. To join in solidarity with the victims of this tragedy, all students, faculty and staff are invited to attend an inter-faith prayer service on April 20 at 12 p.m. in the Mundelein Center auditorium. Those who are unable to attend the prayer service are asked to join in a moment of quiet prayer at noon on Friday.

    Register for Fall 2007 Courses

    Registration for Fall 2007 classes is now open. The Office of Academic Advising and Services (OAAS) will hold special walk-in advising hours for registration-related questions. These extended walk-in hours are:

    Friday, April 20, 9 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
    Monday, April 23, 9 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
    Tuesday, April 24, 9 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
    Wednesday, April 25, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.; 3 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.

    First-year students, sophomores, juniors and transfer students in the College of Arts and Sciences and first-year students and sophomores in the Schools of Business, Education, Nursing and Social Work may attend walk-in advising sessions. Juniors, seniors and transfer students in the Schools of Business, Education, Nursing and Social Work should contact their school's dean's office for advising information.

    Learn About Eating Disorder Awareness

    Listen to college student and author Leslie Lipton recount her personal battle with anorexia on April 20 at 3 p.m. in the Crown Center Auditorium. Lipton's story offers valuable insight into why some young women engage in compulsive behavior that is damaging to the body and spirit. This free presentation is open to all students.     Celebrate at the Spring Block Party

    Enjoy food and music at the WTC Spring Block Party on April 25 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. The block party will be held on Pearson St. between State and Wabash. A free barbeque lunch will be available to anyone with a valid Loyola I.D. card. This event is sponsored by Student Life. For more information, contact Ann Marie Morgan at: amorga3@luc.edu.

    View the AIDS Memorial Quilt

    Examine panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt on display April 25 - April 27 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. in the Centennial Forum Student Union (CSFU) lobby. Founded in 1987, the AIDS Memorial Quilt is a poignant tribute and a powerful tool in preventing new HIV infections, and it is also the largest ongoing community arts project in the world. Each of the colorful panels that make up the Quilt memorializes the life of a person lost to AIDS. This event is sponsored by the Unity in Diversity Fund and Wellness Advocates.     Go to the Spring Fling

    Take a break from studying and attend the Spring Fling on April 25 from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Halas Field. There will be an outdoor concert featuring country music star and "American Idol" finalist Josh Gracin. Enjoy food, games and activities as you celebrate the end of the school year. This event is free to all students with a Loyola I.D. card and is funded by the Student Activity Fund. Spring Fling is sponsored by Campus Recreation and Student Union, Union Programming Board, Campus Life Union Board and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.     Focus on Children's Issues

    The Center for the Human Rights of Children will host a seminar on "The Rights of Children in Situations of War and Political Violence" on April 25 from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. in Crown Center Auditorium. The seminar will focus on the impact of war and political violence on children in Iraq, and feature a video on the impact of the 1991 Gulf War, along with discussions about the current situation. Presenters include Center Director James Garbarino, who conducted an assessment of the 1991 war on children in Iraq for UNICEF, and Professor Gunes Tezcur, Peace Studies Program. The seminar is free and open to all Loyola students and faculty. Refreshments will be served.

    Learn the Results of the Student Government Elections

    Find out the winners of the student government elections, which were held earlier this week. Election results will be posted April 23 on the Unified Student Government Website at: www.luc.edu/orgs/usg. In addition to the names of the new student government leaders, election results also will report outcomes for various referendums as well as reveal the new name of Loyola's student government.

    Review the Status of Your Financial Aid Awards

    Log into LOCUS to view your financial aid status and determine if any outstanding information is needed to process your awards. Click on "Finance" and type in the aid year you wish to view (use "2008" for the 2007-2008 academic year). Review the "Steps Completed" and "Steps Not Complete" sections to learn what information is needed to finalize your award package.
