Request Meal Plan Changes
Change Request Forms allow students to change the meal plan requested on their housing contracts. Students must comply with the guidelines of their status and housing assignments, but are encouraged to submit the form if they wish to change their meal plan by the following deadlines:
August 17: Downgrade or switch between plans (declining balance and board plans)
September 7: Upgrade within your designated plan
The Change Request Forms are available at: LUC.edu/campuscard/forms.shtml.
Non-resident students may purchase any meal plan available to resident students and have the cost of the meal plan charged to his or her student account. Interested students must submit a Non-Resident Meal Plan Request Form, available at: LUC.edu/campuscard/meal_nonres_form.shtml.
Waive Out of Health Insurance
If you already have health insurance coverage, be sure to waive out of Loyola's insurance plan (and an automatic charge of $1,595) by October 1. Complete the online waiver form at: LUC.edu/bursar.
Check LOCUS for Financial Aid and e-Bill
Log into LOCUS and click on "My Financial Aid Status" to determine if any steps remain to finalize your financial aid before the Fall Semester begins. If you have an outstanding balance on your e-Bill, now is the time to arrange for additional resources. Federal PLUS and Alternative loans are two options available to students. Federal PLUS loans are taken out by creditworthy parents of dependent undergraduate students. Alternative loans are low-interest loans borrowed by the student. Eligibility is based on the creditworthiness of the student borrower and/or co-signer. For more information about student financial assistance, call: 773.508.7704.
Submit Proof of Immunizations
The state of Illinois requires all students who are registered for seven or more semester or quarter hours to submit up-to-date immunization records. Send your records to the Wellness Center. Students who fail to comply will be blocked from registration. Overdue notices will be sent to your Loyola e-mail account. For more information and a list of required immunizations, visit: LUC.edu/wellness/immunizations.shtml.
Apply for Student Parking Permits
Loyola students may apply for resident or commuter parking permits. Resident parking on-campus is very limited. To obtain a resident parking permit, students must enter a lottery at: LUC.edu/parking/residentstudent.shtml. Only students who live on-campus in Loyola residence halls may apply for a resident permit. Resident permits will only be given to those who enter and win the permit lottery. Commuter students may apply for a parking permit at: LUC.edu/parking/commuter_students.shtml. Permits will be available for pick-up on the following dates:
Resident permits: August 25 - 26, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Gentile Center
Commuter permits: August 27 - 28, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., Gentile Center
All students must present a Campus Card and residence hall key, if applicable, to pick up their permit. For more information, call: 773.508.7036.
Complete AlcoholEdu for College
All incoming Loyola students are required to take AlcoholEdu for College, which is a component of the university's alcohol misuse prevention initiative. Instructions on how to access the online course will be sent to your Loyola e-mail account from the Dean of Students. You must complete Part 1 of the course by August 20. Approximately 45 days later, you will receive an e-mail asking you to complete Part 2. You will not successfully complete the course until you finish Part 2 and pass the exam. For more information about AlcoholEdu, visit: LUC.edu/ccc/alcoholedu.shtml. Also check out Loyola's "Choice. Control. Character." initiative, which supports students in making safe and healthy decisions about alcohol. To learn more, visit: LUC.edu/ccc.
Reserve Your Ticket for the Reopening of Madonna della Strada Chapel
To celebrate the reopening of Madonna della Strada Chapel, the Loyola community is invited to attend a special Mass at the chapel on September 13 at 11:30 a.m. Cardinal Francis George, O.M.I., will preside at Mass and consecrate the chapel's new altar. Because seating in the chapel is extremely limited, tickets will be required, and there is a limit of one ticket per person. An e-mail message from Father Garanzini will be distributed on August 28 with a link to reserve tickets online. For more information, call: ext. 5.7662.
Get in Shape at Halas Sports Center
Visit Halas Sports Center to work out, meet new people and have a good time. Membership at Halas is included in all full-time undergraduate student fees, so be sure to check out everything the facility has to offer: cardio and variable-resistance machines; a swimming pool; free weights; basketball, volleyball and badminton courts; saunas and a pro shop. Numerous group fitness and non-credit instructional classes are offered weekly.
Renovation of Halas Sports Center's main floor is underway. The main office will be open August 21. Pro shop operation will relocate to the main office so that renovations to the current shop area can begin August 27. The Halas lobby will be refurbished with new paint, carpet and ceilings.
