Cheer On the Chicago Bears at a Super Bowl Party
Go, Bears! Union Programming Board invites all students to attend a Super Bowl party in Centennial Forum Student Union (CFSU) on Sunday, February 4, beginning at 2 p.m. and continuing through the game. There will be an "NFL Experience" contest to test your football skills, along with trivia games, raffles, giveaways and food. Admission to this event is free. For more information, contact Zeeshan Ali at: upb@luc.edu.
Celebrate the Super Bowl Safely
As you prepare to cheer on the Bears in the Super Bowl, the Wellness Center staff reminds you to pay attention to personal safety—yours and that of other students. Here are some things to keep in mind:
Avoid alcohol and drugs. Some Super Bowl celebrations may include alcohol. It is illegal to drink if you're under 21. Loyola expects students to follow state law and university policy, and these regulations will be strictly enforced. Here are some tips for safety and control:
- Set drinking limits for yourself and ask a friend to help you stick to them.
- Pace yourself to one or fewer drinks an hour and don't play any drinking games.
- Do not go to or leave a party alone. Travel in groups and never walk by yourself at night.
- Always carry extra money for cab fare in case you have to get home on your own.
- Keep your drink with you at all times. If you're not sure whether a drink is yours or you've left it alone for any time, get a new one.
- Date rape drugs have been used in sexual assaults on Loyola students. Don't accept open-container beverages from anyone but a bartender. At house parties, only drink beverages that you've opened yourself. A person under the influence of a date rape drug may display a disproportionate level of intoxication/impairment to the amount of alcohol they consume. If you notice anyone with these symptoms, take responsibility and help them.
Look out for your fellow students. Although many students will celebrate the Super Bowl with friends, other students may be alone and feel left out, lonely or sad. Keep an eye out for others and make sure they get help if they need it. Remember that alcohol can heighten feelings of despair or loneliness. If you or someone you know feels sad or hopeless, tell your RA, or visit Loyola's ULifeline at: www.ulifeline.com/main/Home.html. If urgent help is needed, head to the nearest hospital emergency room or call 911.
Loyola cares about the safety of its students. Please make smart decisions and look out for each other as you enjoy Super Bowl celebrations!

Check Your Academic Advisement Report
The "Academics" section of LOCUS contains a link to your Academic Advisement Report. This unofficial report provides students with a way to track their progress in fulfilling curriculum requirements for Core and declared major/minor courses. Additional information about the report is available at: www.luc.edu/advisingservices/aar.shtml. E-mail questions about the accuracy of the report to: AcademicAdvisement@luc.edu. Please include your name, Loyola ID number and an explanation of the issue.
Declare Academic Majors and Minors
Course requirements for all academic programs may change at any time. To ensure that you are following the correct curriculum, you should officially declare majors and minors as soon as possible. To declare or change your major or minor, submit a change of major/minor form. The form must be signed by a representative of the department of the major you declare. If you change your major, you will also need to obtain a signature from a representative of the department you're leaving. Get a change major/minor form at the Hub. To switch to a major in a different school or college, submit an internal transfer form, available at: www.luc.edu/undergrad/admission/intertransfer.pdf.
After you submit the appropriate form, look for the update to appear in the "View My Major" section in LOCUS. If you notice any discrepancies, contact your advisor or department dean immediately.
On Academic Probation?
Any undergraduate students placed on academic probation must meet with an Academic Advisor in the Office of Academic Advising and Services, or contact your school's Dean's Office to get advising information. Students must also complete an Academic Probation Contract. To review the required advising procedures for your college/school, visit: www.luc.edu/advising.
