    Celebrate St. Patrick's Day Safely

Loyola's Safety Net Coalition hopes you'll celebrate St. Patrick's Day safely and make smart decisions about drinking. The Safety Net Coalition is a group of faculty, administrators, staff, students and community members whose mission is to build a safer and healthier campus environment for the prevention of alcohol and other drug misuse among Loyola students.

The Coalition reminds students that having a good time doesn't require drinking, and that if you're under 21, drinking is illegal. The best way to avoid trouble and dangerous situations is not to drink. But, if you do decide to drink, there are steps that can help you stay safe, including: Set a limit for how much you'll drink. Make sure no one goes to or from a party alone. Carry extra money for cab fare. Get a new beverage if you've left yours unattended or if you're not sure it's yours.

To get more tips for a safe St. Pat's and other information about Loyola's alcohol initiative, check out: Choice. Control. Character. Making decisions about drinking, at: www.luc.edu/ccc.

    Participate in a Peacemaking Conference

Learn how religious appeals can fuel calls for both violence and peace. Loyola's "Peacemaking in an Age of Terror" conference will explore paths for promoting global and religious stability. The conference will be held March 20 - March 22. Keynote speakers include Arun Gandhi, grandson of India's famous leader, Mohandas K. Gandhi. Admission to the conference is free, but registration is required. To learn more and to register for the conference, visit: www.luc.edu/ethics/04103peace07.shtml.

    Become a Wellness Advocate

Volunteer to be a Wellness Advocate and talk to students about alcohol, drug abuse, sexual health, stress management, nutrition, relationships and other health issues. This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in health and wellness or are considering a health-related career to gain practical experience. Interested candidates must submit a completed application and one reference letter by April 4. To learn more about the program and to download an application, visit: www.luc.edu/wellness/advocates.shtml. For more information, contact Alissa Eischens at: 773.508.2751; or e-mail: aeische@luc.edu.

Attend a Town Hall Meeting with President Garanzini

Loyola President Michael J. Garanzini, S.J., invites Loyola students to participate in a special students-only Town Hall meeting to discuss university-related issues with him. The Town Hall will take place on March 28 at 4:30 p.m., in Bremner Lounge at Centennial Forum Student Union (CFSU).
