Apply for the Les Aspin Internship Program

Do you want to spend Fall 2007 taking classes and working as an intern in Washington, D.C.? If so, consider applying for Loyola's Washington Semester program. Through an agreement with Marquette University's Les Aspin Center for Government, Loyola students earn 17 credit hours during the semester, including three credit hours of supervised internship experience. Courses are available in political science, theology and the arts. Students take classes at the Aspin Center, located just three blocks from the U.S. Capitol. Apartment housing is also available at the Aspin Center.

The application deadline for the program has been extended until April 5. Interested students must have a 3.0 GPA and junior or senior standing by Fall 2007. Second-semester sophomores will be considered if space becomes available. Students applying to the program must submit a completed application form, an unofficial transcript from LOCUS, two letters of recommendation from full-time Loyola faculty members, two copies of a resume and a passport-size photo. All application materials must be submitted to Dr. Alan Gitelson. To download the application form, visit: www.luc.edu/depts/polisci/washintern.html. For more information, contact Alan Gitelson at: 773.508.8751; or e-mail: agitels@luc.edu.

    Cheer on Loyola Idol Contestants

Watch your fellow students compete to become the next Loyola Idol! The competition will take place April 3 from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. in CFSU. This event is sponsored by Campus Life Union Board (CLUB) and is open to all students. For more information, contact Erin Petersen at: epeter5@luc.edu; or Erin MacIntyre at: emacint@luc.edu.

    Prepare for Fall Registration

Registration for Fall 2007 begins April 16 for undergraduate students. Check LOCUS to see if you have any holds on your account, which may prevent you from registering for classes. To view your holds, log into LOCUS and click on "Holds" under "Personal Portfolio." Check the access schedule to find out when you can register at: www.luc.edu/academics/schedules.

Participate in a Light Bulb Exchange

Trade in your old light bulbs for energy-efficient bulbs at the Light Bulb Exchange on April 4 in the CFSU lobby and the Simpson alcove from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. For every filament light bulb you bring in, you will receive a new compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulb for free. CFL bulbs use 75% less electricity than incandescent bulbs. They also cut down on carbon dioxide and last longer than other light bulbs. The Light Bulb Exchange is sponsored by Hillel, the Muslim Students' Association, Students for Environmental Alliance and the Sustainability Committee. For more information, contact Lisette Zaid at: lzaid@luc.edu; or Tayyaba Ahmad at: tahmad@luc.edu.
