Get Tickets to the President's Ball
Pick up tickets to the President's Ball, a semi-formal event, which will be held November 2 at Navy Pier in the Grand Ballroom. Undergraduate students can receive up to two free tickets by presenting their Campus Cards. Seniors can pick up their tickets through October 14. All other undergraduates can pick up tickets beginning October 15. Tickets may be obtained at the Centennial Forum Student Union (CFSU) information desk and at the Terry Student Center. A limited number of tickets are available. Shuttle buses will be available to transport students to Navy Pier on the night of the event. For more information, e-mail Michelle Lata at: mlata@luc.edu.
Attend a Dialogue About Peace and Social Justice
Participate in a conversation about peace and nonviolence as social justice on October 15 from 12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. in Kasbeer Hall. John Dear, S.J., will lead the discussion, which is the first of a new series on interfaith dialogue and understanding. Lunch will be provided at the event, and an RSVP is required by October 11. Take Part in a Technology Focus Group
Attend the Students and Technology Focus Group on October 15 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. in Granada Center. Discuss your opinions on various technologies, including personal storage, computer usage, cell phones and social networking tools. Learn how Loyola manages and provides different campus technologies and help Information Technology Services plan for the future. Pizza, refreshments and gifts will be provided. See Wit, a Pulitzer Prize-winning play, opening October 16 and running through October 21. Interact with Road Trip Nation
Visit with the cast of Road Trip Nation at Loyola on October 18. This PBS program illustrates how passion, vocation and calling merge together and lead individuals to discover fulfilling careers. Road Trip Nation travels across the country interviewing fascinating people who have defined their own paths in life. The Road Trip Nation RV and cast will be at the Lake Shore Campus all day October 18, with a film showing and talkback session at 7:30 p.m. in Galvin Auditorium. Enjoy stories, videos and fun. Register for the Student Leadership Institute
Attend the Second Annual Student Leadership Institute, "Leading Loyola: Creating a Leadership Legacy," on October 20 from 10:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. in the Quinlan Life Sciences Auditorium. The Institute features two nationally known leadership speakers, Joe Martin and Chris E. Stout, as well as a series of workshops. Registration is free but limited to the first 150 students who apply. Nominate Fellow Students for a Leadership Conference
Loyola's Department of Student Leadership Development will send up to six students to the National Conference on Student Leadership from November 17 - 20. This conference is a skill-building opportunity for students who have demonstrated leadership potential; it is not a reward for outstanding leadership. An advisor will accompany students to the conference and all conferences expenses will be paid. Nominations are open to freshmen, sophomores and juniors. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

Take advantage of Science Week, which will be held October 22 - 25. Science Week is dedicated to the exploration of various careers and opportunities in science and technology. Participate in the Haunted Prison Trip
Get tickets for the Second Annual Statesville Haunted Prison Trip, which will take place October 25 at 7 p.m. The haunted house features a tour of maximum-security prison cells, where more than 200 notorious criminals and villains will be lurking about. Tickets will be available for purchase at the CFSU information desk beginning October 16 at 8:30 a.m. There is a limit of one ticket per student I.D., and this event is open to Loyola students only. Complimentary shuttle buses will depart from the Parking Structure at 7 p.m. on the night of the event to transport students to Statesville, which is located in Crest Hill, 50 minutes south of Chicago. Note Internal Transfer Deadline
The College of Arts and Sciences, Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, and Schools of Business, Education, Continuing and Professional Studies, and Social Work are all distinct colleges under the direction of separate deans. Students interested in transferring from one of these programs to another must submit an internal transfer application form. The Spring Semester deadline for internal transfers is November 1. Prepare for the Smoke Free Illinois Act
Quit smoking now in preparation for the Smoke Free Illinois Act, which takes effect January 1, 2008. This statewide legislation bans smoking in all public places, in all places of employment and within 15 feet of any entrance to a public place or place of employment. Locations included in, but not limited to, the ban are hospitals, restaurants, bars, offices, concert halls, educational facilities, schools, meeting rooms, convention facilities, private clubs, lobbies, bowling alleys, skating rinks and student dormitories. All of Loyola's campuses are already smoke free.
